Overview
Product Description
This kit is part of the SMD Trainer range that only uses SMD parts to test out your soldering skills. Consisting of just two transistors, two capacitors, two LEDs, and four resistors, you will be able to create a dual LED flasher, and this kit is based on the MitchElectronics Transistor Flasher Kit, just a lot smaller. Before making this kit, be sure to read our SMD soldering guide found in our resources page, and pay extra attention when positioning components because de-soldering SMD parts can be extremely challenging.

Applications
- The Schmitt Trigger SMD Trainer is an excellent kit for testing soldering skills, especially with the potentiometers and the MMBT3904 transistor (as these are very small). Regarding practical applications, this small module is great for conditioning signals such as level sensors, fill levels, and photodiodes so that varying analogue signals become a single logical on or off. The use of hysteresis means that small signal changes are ignored, thereby preventing circuits from going crazy when the input value crosses a threshold.
- Education and training – Useful for teaching Schmitt triggers, hysteresis and noise immunity, while providing practical experience with surface-mount soldering, component identification and post-assembly testing.
- Project integration – Suitable for projects such as Hysteresis Demonstrator, Noisy-Signal Cleaner, SMD Assembly Practice, and other designs where the following function is useful: Surface-mount Schmitt-trigger trainer for learning hysteresis, clean switching and SMD assembly
